Why should Homestays need to promoted?
Homestays are prefered over hotel and restaurant because it directly benefits the locals in that area. Local products would be promoted and the loss and economic going away from the area would be reduced. If the products brought from outside is sold to the tourist then large sum of income would go out for importing those materials. When economics remain inside community or areas it helps to grow economy of the area. Economic activities grow. Jobs and income generating opportunities would grow.
For Nepal if properly managed and local products are prioritized in homestay tourism major loss would be minimized and maximum profit would be obtained from the homestay. If homestay is operated importing outside products it would have no difference than other conventional tourism approach.
